Knowing how to straighten a human hair wig will not only give it a different look, but it will also make it easier to manage until your next wash. And sometimes even if you buy a curly wig, you want to straighten it after a while.
Today, I will introduce how to use flat iron method and hair dryer to straighten and blow hair.
Straighten and Blow Dryer Method Preparations
1. Shampoo and condition hair
Step into the shower or bathtub, knead the shampoo into a foam, and apply it on the scalp, gently push the scalp with your fingertips, remember not to scratch the scalp with your fingernails. There are many bacteria in the nails.
Once the delicate scalp is scratched, it is easy to induce infection. Then rinse off with warm water. Apply a small amount of Lightweight Volumizing Conditioner to the ends of the hair (from mid-shaft to ends) and rinse the conditioner with lukewarm water.
Warm water opens the pores and cleanses the scalp.
A lightweight volumizing shampoo that won't weigh down your fine hair with added moisturizers.
2. Squeeze moisture out of hair
After rinsing your hair with lukewarm water, first, gently squeeze excess water out of your hair with your hands; then, wring out excess water with a cotton towel.
3. Apply heat protectant
Heated styling tools, like blow dryers and irons, can damage hair, causing unwanted frizz and breakage. To minimize damage, always apply a heat protectant to damp hair.
For fine hair, use a volumizing mousse with added heat protectants.
For coarse or thick hair, use a smoothing serum with added heat protectants.
For natural hair, use a silicone-based heat protection serum.
4. Dry fine or thick hair
First dry your hair roughly. With the nozzle pointing down, blow dry wet hair until approximately 80% dry. If your hair is damaged, let it air dry naturally. If your hair is relatively healthy or you're in a hurry, blow dry your hair with a blow dryer and a round brush.
Drying hair all the way will result in smoother hair. It will also give more volume to your hair.
5. Air dry or blow dry hair
If you have time to let your hair dry naturally, you can curl your hair into a roll or braid and let it dry overnight. If you must blow dry your hair, use the lowest setting and hold the dryer a few inches from your hair. Consider using a nozzle attachment with a brush on your hair dryer.
Flat Iron Method:
1. Let the iron preheat
Insert the flat iron and let it heat up for three to five minutes before moving on to the next step. Choose a temperature setting according to your hair:
For thinning hair, use the lowest heat setting.
For average hair thickness, use medium heat (approximately 300-350/F).
For thicker hair, use high heat (400-450/F). To be safe, you may want to start low and work your way up until you can straighten your hair in one go.
2. Separate a lock of hair
Starting with the bottom layer of hair, part a section of hair 1 to 2 inches (2.5 to 5 cm) wide. This should be small enough that you can easily fit the flat iron around it and straighten it in one go.
3. Clamp the iron over the roots
Hold the iron 1-3 inches (2.5-7.5 cm) above the scalp and bring the two heated sides together with the hair in between, straightening too close to the scalp may damage the roots or burn the scalp.
Be sure not to clamp too tightly, as this will create a ridge at the top of your hair. Leaving the iron in one place for too long can also cause wrinkles.
If any excess hair falls out of the iron, turn the iron on and try again with a small amount of hair.
4. Move the iron down the length of the hair
Slowly move the iron down the length of the hair. Always apply the same pressure to the hair. Do not twist or move the iron, or your hair may frizz.
It's normal to see steam coming out of your hair and iron. Your hair isn't burning; it's just the heat protectant evaporating a bit.
If you see a lot of steam or smell burnt hair, move the iron more quickly.
If your hair is particularly curly or frizzy, start with a few brushes near the top, then follow the instructions for a slow tug.
5. Repeat for the rest of the hair
When you're done with one section, unpin the next section and repeat. Work from the lowest layers of hair all the way to the surface. Pay special attention to the back of your head, it's easy to miss the kinks that hide from your view.
6. Smooth hair
If you have a few flyaway strands, try smoothing them out using one of the following methods:
Take a drop of pomade, about the size of a pea, or even smaller.
Spritz a little hairspray on flyaway strands and comb them through. You can apply hairspray to all your hair to keep it out of the wind and moisture. Hold jar 12 to 14 inches (30-38 cm) from hair.
Hair Dryer Method
1. Blow dry hair to 80% dry. Hold the hair dryer a few centimeters away from the hair and use the other hand to flick the hair so that all layers of hair dry evenly and blow the hair until it is 80% dry.
2. Clip the top hair Gather the top layers and clip them with bobby pins or tie them in a ponytail at the top of your head. Start with the bottom section of hair and slowly work the rest of the hair down until the hair is completely dry to ensure that all hair is dried and straightened evenly. 3. Take a small section of hair Pick a section of hair, place the brush on your scalp, and blow-dry your hair while pulling it down with the brush until it's straightened.
4.Use a hair dryer Turn on the hair dryer and lift it 5 to 7.5 cm away from the hairbrush. Generally, only need to be adjusted to a moderate temperature to reduce damage to the hair. However, if you have very curly hair, use the hottest setting and make sure your hair dries straight.
5.Blow hair The hair dryer blows down obliquely, pulling the hairbrush from the root to the end of the hair. Comb through hair from roots to ends with a brush, pulling hair down tightly. At the same time, blow the blow dryer diagonally down the length of the hair. The hairbrush and blow dryer should move in sync. If the hair is thinner, it should be combed upwards. If you want your hair to be tame, comb it down.No matter which direction you comb, the hair dryer should blow downwards at an angle, so that the airflow can blow from the root to the end of the hair, so as to make the hair shaft docile and prevent it from curling hair dries completely.
6. Repeat several times Just one blowout isn't enough to dry out that lock of hair. Continue blow-drying the same lock of hair until it's completely dry and straight. Remember to comb from the root to the end of the hair and pull it down tightly. The hair dryer blows downwards at an angle.
